Our Adoption Process
Adopting a Sato is an exciting and meaningful experience. To make the process clear and stress‑free, we’ve outlined each step below.

1
Fill out an application
To begin, complete an adoption application. There is no fee, and this does not obligate you to adopt, but it is required to start the review process.
Please fill out the entire application, including your veterinarian’s phone number. A veterinary reference check is an essential part of our review
2
Application review & phone interview
Once we receive your application, our Director of Adoptions will review it. If your application moves forward, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview. This conversation helps us learn more about your home, lifestyle, and expectations. It also helps us determine which dog(s) may be the best fit for you.
We do not operate on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Our priority is finding the best match for each dog and each family.
3
Meet your pup & finalize adoption
Once approved, we’ll arrange a time for you to meet the dog(s) identified as a good match. If both you and our team feel it’s the right fit, you may move forward with adoption.
Adoptions take place at our licensed location. Here you will sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee of $500.
Adoption fees help us continue our work to rescue homeless dogs and provide them with loving forever families.

After you Adopt
We love staying connected. Join our Facebook Group to share updates, photos, and connect with other Sato families.
If you ever find yourself unable to keep your adopted dog, please contact us immediately. We are committed to supporting our dogs throughout their lives and will help ensure they are safely rehomed.
All Sato Heart dogs are microchipped with Fi Nano, an ISO‑certified, internationally compatible microchip. Registration is free for life and can be updated from any smartphone or computer.

Important Notes
We reserve the right to decline an adoption if we feel the match is not in the dog’s best interest.
A denial is not a reflection of you—it simply means the situation isn’t the right fit for that particular dog.
There is no shortage of dogs in need, and the right one will come.
